Innovating in packaging: emerging trends for the industry

The key role for CDA machines

Industrial packaging is rapidly evolving to meet the changing needs of consumers, businesses and legislation, while incorporating environmental concerns. In this article, we will explore the latest trends in industrial packaging, highlighting how innovation , sustainability and efficiency are at the heart of the DNA of filling machine specialist CDA, capping and labelling machines.

Sustainability and Eco-responsibility

One of the most significant trends in industrial packaging is the increased focus on sustainability and eco-responsibility. Consumers are increasingly sensitive to environmental issues, leading businesses to seek to reduce their carbon footprint. Recyclable, biodegradable and compostable packaging materials (container, cap and label) are becoming increasingly popular.

Within this major evolution towards increased environmental awareness in industrial packaging, CDA positions itself as a resolutely committed manufacturer of packaging machines (filling machines, capping and labelling). We respond to the new requirements of our customers by adapting our equipment to support the trend towards sustainability and eco-responsibility.

Our label makers are designed to fit adhesive labels made from recyclable paper , as well as other innovative materials such as wood (poplar). Preliminary tests are systematically carried out to ensure optimal compatibility.

We also identified a challenge in our production processes. All of our labelling machines are adjusted before shipping, requiring the use of labels and containers supplied by our customers. These settings result in the significant production of glassine without their labels. Faced with this observation, we took the initiative to recycle this waste. This is how CDA decided to recycle its glassines with the company SOPREMA.

Likewise, our fillers and capping machines are optimised to handle containers and caps made from recycled and biodegradable plastics. By anticipating this major evolution towards environmentally friendly packaging, CDA demonstrates its commitment to supporting companies in their approach to reducing their carbon footprint, while offering efficient packaging solutions.

Smart and Connected Packaging

Advanced technologies are increasingly integrated into industrial packaging. QR codes, NFC chips and RFID tags allow companies to track and manage their products more efficiently, while providing consumers with relevant product information (their origin, traceability and shelf life, etc.)

To move in this direction, CDA called on the company Ubleam. The proposed solutions should help open up new and exciting perspectives for our customers. Ubleam is a company that offers product identification and tracking technology based on circular labels called Bleams (QR Code). This technology allows users of our machines:

  • To scan Bleams using a mobile application to access information (consumables, electronic instructions, etc.) on our fillers, screwdrivers, labellers or mono-blocks,

  • Access a history of information consulted as well as interventions on the machine,

  • Manage and configure all settings via a web platform called FUSION.

The collaboration between Ubleam and CDA will improve the operational efficiency and maintenance of our filling, capping and labelling machines.

Personalisation and Customer Experience

Packaging has become an essential means of reinforcing brand identity and providing a unique experience to customers. Advanced printing techniques enable custom designs and unique packaging for each product.

At CDA, we understand that each industry has its own needs and requirements. This is why we offer customized solutions to our customers in various industries . Whether you are in the food , pharmaceutical , cosmetics or other industries, we can adapt our equipment to your production process and guarantee optimal performance. Thanks to our personalised approach, your products will be packaged effectively and efficiently, in compliance with all current regulations and standards.

Product Protection and Safety

Industrial packaging plays an important role in protecting products from damage, theft, customs compliance and anti-counterfeiting during international shipments.

For example, when exporting alcoholic beverages, tax management can be simplified thanks to the use of Marianne which is applied directly to the capsules. Our machines, such as the Stick, are designed to deposit these Marianne precisely, whether on waxed bottles or on already crimped capsules.

At CDA we understand the importance of ensuring not only the quality of our machines, but also of facilitating customs processes for our customers. Our equipment is designed to meet the highest standards in secure packaging, thereby helping to preserve the integrity of products throughout their journey, from warehouses to their final destination.

Logistics and Automation

The integration of automation into packaging processes, encompassing the use of fillers, screws and labellers, offers a significant improvement in efficiency throughout the supply chain. Companies are increasingly investing in automated material handling systems to speed up the packaging process, reduce human errors and increase productivity.

CDA recently developed the VS2000 screwdriver , an innovation allowing the automatic removal of caps . This advance is part of our overall vision aimed at further automating the different stages of packaging. Our primary objective is to enable our customers to save time and optimise their processes.

Our commitment to the automation of packaging processes is reflected in the provision of machines, whether semi-automatic or fully automatic. This diversity of solutions meets a variety of needs, offering our customers the ability to adopt automated approaches tailored to their specific context .
